Training & Individual counselling session for Adolescent Girls and their Mother

In an effort to sensitize the masses about adolescence and their issues, Crime against Women Cell, Delhi Police South East Dist organizes programs on Adolescent Girl’s Issues and Remedies in association with Women’s Manifesto, an NGO working for women empowerment and social welfare. The program includes presentation, group discussion and individual counselling to adolescent girls and their mothers. One such program was organized in Indira Camp of Srinivaspuri area of South Delhi on 21 st March 2015 (Saturday). The programme started by the introductory remark of Mr. Umesh Singh, Assistant Commissioner of Police South East District. Ms. Shabnam Saifi, Vice President of Women’s Manifesto introduced Women’s Manifesto to the participants and explained about the programme.

After the introduction, training session was initiated by Ms. Sana Parveen on the topic ‘Understanding adolescence and addressing their issues’. The session was opened by a dialogue with the participants where the topic was introduced to them and their expectations from the session were taken into account. Ms. Sana threw light on issues of adolescence, and ways to tackle them. Then Ms. Sayema, talked about personal health and hygiene of adolescents.

Training sessions were followed by individual counselling sessions. A total of five trained counsellors took individual counselling sessions with around fifty girls. The issues of adolescent girls which came to light during the individual counselling sessions included queries regarding health, social life and education.
